Article types
- Editorials on issues of public interest in the fields of development, tourism, conservation,
recreation
- Letters from readers: brief responses to material previously published in MM or comment on
other topic
- Success stories: brief accounts (one page, including photograph or other image) of development or
peace initiatives linked to sports
- Photo Journal: one-page stories including two-thirds page of photographs, aiming to produce an
emotional impact.
- Through your lens: similar to Photo Journal but with only a brief paragraph of text. Intended to
present the particularities of disparate cultures and places.
- Travel notes: longer illustrated stories. Should focus on the role (actual or potential) of sport in a
given culture, or on development and peace bottlenecks that might conceivably be addressed with a sport
project.
- Opinion: academic commentaries on specific issues.
- Feature articles: detailed accounts, similar in style and scope to major articles in National
Geographic Magazine; could be biographical or autobiographical, or simply eye-witness reportage.
- Primary research papers within the scope of journal.
- Miscellaneous: volunteer opportunities, online resources, fundraising strategies.
